Whenever I equip a llama with a carpet, and a chest, and put a carpet in the chest as well as on the llama, the game instantly crashes. I am not sure if it needs to be the same color carpet or not, but it crashed when i used the light blue carpet, I have not tried any others.

Confirmed, but with different items. I used a shulker box (with a block of sand inside of it), a shulker box with nothing in it, and a block of sand to test. I was about to report a "duplicate" bug, but then realized that your crash was also updating screen events like mine was, with the same classes. However, I have different hardware and a newer Java version than the reporter of this bug.
I can occasionally crash when placing items in a llama's inventory, but I had assumed that this was because I had altered the NBT data for the Strength tag. Perhaps not....
Confirmed the crash, but it's not the carpet's fault. Some specific llamas have broken inventories, and attempting to place items in the CHEST side, not the CARPET side, will cause a crash. I'm attaching a crash log caused by the inventory.
crash-2016-09-28_12.53.21-client.txt is a forced (F3-C) crash with only the broken llama in the world.
I think I found the problem: llamas that work fine become broken after saving and reloading. The llama has no NBT data in the Items tag for its inventory. The game is creating the tags, but not saving them, causing crashes if you try to use the inventory after reloading the save file.
