Ender dragon dies in front of portal

The bug

If you kill the ender dragon, it dies at its portal. What I did expect was that it dies in the middle of the portal but instead it is dying in front of the portal like in the screenshot.

can see the bug here, I dislike that you have to kill the dragon a certain way to get the max XP, and I know everyone wants the same death from the ender dragon instead of having to shoot for max XP.

It also happens in MCPE when the dragon dies AWAY from the portal. With /kill for example.
