On the wiki (http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Status_effect#negativelevels) it sais that negative amplifiers for status effects are inconsistent, but it doesn't say anything else about it. Is there no way at all to fix this?

Did you even read the title of the ticket? "Amplifiers over 4 are not supported."

Yes, I did, but I also read the rest of the posts.
As stated before:"That one is about the limit (<128), this one is about negative values (128-255) and how they (do not) work.", so it's not a duplicate.
Please read the entire posts and you'll understand the difference.

The title has been changed by the mods to properly reflect what the ticket is about, and it's about unsupported amplifiers.

Okay, but (again) this one isn't about unsupported amplifiers. It's about the negative ones, wich are sometimes supported, but other times they're not, that's why (the writer of the wiki page and) I call them inconsistent.
That's the problem, they're not reliable, and I think they should be, because the way it is right now makes no sense.

Negative amplifiers = amplifiers 128-255 in /effect = unsupported.

As far I as I tested, no negative effects (128-255 effect levels) work in 1.10.2+ versions
This is not a duplicate of MC-10755.
That one is about the limit (<128), this one is about negative values (128-255) and how they (do not) work.
...
But I guess Jeb doesn't want to fix this one either? :s
