Beacon beam is darker than it should be

The beacon beam is darker in-game, than the texture actually is.

I assume it's because it has "shadows" on the sides like most things in Minecraft, but since it's a beam of light i don't see why...
I also remember the beam not having these shadows in an earlier version of the game, though i don't remember which one.

You can load zipped resource packs with Minecraft. Therefor it would be better if you attach the resource pack directly as zip file.

But besides that I can confirm that the beam is darker in 17w06a but not in 1.11.2

I can reproduce it very clearly. Screenshots attached.
The beacon beam is considerably darker in 17w06a than in 1.11.2.

So unless this is wanted by Mojang, which I haven't seen them stating it anywhere, this bugpost seems valid to me and should be reopened to have someone saying whether it's WaI or not.

Personally, I prefer the lighter beacon beam, as a beacon should be a.. beacon, and indicate that thre is something there, which makes more sense if the light is brighter.

This does not happen to me

Confirmed for 17w18a.

(Offer to overtake this bugpost if no one is opposed to it.)

I just noticed, this also seems to apply to the end gateway beam, it looks darker in the 1.12 snapshots than what I recall in 1.11.2. I hope the beacon beam fix will automatically also apply to the end gateway beam 🙂
