The recipe book is green with my texture pack; the issue was an unaligned/bugged out icon (I added the screenshot, it may not have shown it though)
No, it hasn't happened since either.
Perhaps it was a client issue or visual glitch?
Also, did the bugged out icon appear on the screenshot?
This is directly related to the issue of resource packs causing blank recipe book icons in the previous snaps. The icon has been changed (size, placement and color) in 14a and resource packs need to be updated.
Uploading a sample of the top corner of textures/gui/container/inventory.png, which shows the difference.
textures/gui/container/crafting_table.png also needs the same treatment. (Not shown in screen cap.)
Version-dependent duplicate of MC-115085.
Have you checked your texture pack? In 17w14a, the recipe book should be green (knowledge_book.png).
