Players unable to join multiplayer LAN singleplayer world: io.netty.handler.codec.EncoderException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: unable to fit 2232077 into 3

Players are unable to join to singleplayer LAN world. When they join, it says (player) joined game and then followed by (player) has left game. The attached version is 17w16b, but it is the same as this version and has yet to be resolved.

Can you attach the game log please? ([minecraft|http://hopper.minecraft.net/help/guides/finding-minecraft-data-folder]/logs/<Date>.log.gz/<Date>.log)

I have attached a log file with the issue in it.

Thanks! The important part is:

<Player> lost connection: TranslatableComponent{key='disconnect.genericReason', args=[Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.EncoderException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: unable to fit 2232077 into 3], siblings=[], style=Style{hasParent=false, color=null, bold=null, italic=null, underlined=null, obfuscated=null, clickEvent=null, hoverEvent=null, insertion=null}}

Is this still the case in Pre-6?

This should be the most recent log. It still has not been fixed correctly in Pre-7 sadly.

Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (currently that is 1.12.2) of Minecraft? If so, please update the affected versions and help us keeping this ticket updated from time to time. If you are the owner/reporter of this ticket, you can modify the affected version(s) yourself.

I'm getting this problem in 1.13.2. Running Windows 10, 64 bit.

I'm getting multiple reports of players getting this in 1.13.2 with Diversity 3

Since this issue hasn't been updated for almost four years now, please check if this is still an issue in the most recent version of the game.

Can confirm in 1.20.5 Pre-release 1.
