I use an afk fisher on a SMP I play on and sometimes when I play only one of the tripwires go down and the redstone does not open the door. This only happens to me and I don't know why. I've tried connecting the redstone to a lever and that activates the door and I've used it before without any issues.

Cannot reproduce in vanilla either. There is a similar forge issue, which has since been fixed; if you can reproduce this without mods or forge itself (i.e. on a completely vanilla client and server) on Minecraft 1.12.1 this issue can be reopened.
Are you using mods? I have the same issue, but only in one of my 1.11.2 installations, not the other one. I haven't narrowed down the cause yet. A fresh installation with default settings has no problems with tripwire. My modded installation had problems .. but still had them even after I disabled all mods. So it might be a client setting that makes the difference.
