Did you open this world in any of the snapshots or pre-releases?

Yes, in each from 17w06a.

Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (currently that is 1.12.2, or the latest 1.13 development snapshot 18w07c) of Minecraft?

Resolved as Cannot Reproduce unless this can be reproduced by placing beds in a release version and not in a snapshot.
