Up until recently my minecraft has been receiving serious lag spikes in which the game becomes unplayable. It can often freeze or just be around <1 FPS after about 2 minutes of gameplay. I have been playing on 1.11 but it also affects 1.12. I have uninstalled all resource packs and redownloaded minecraft itself. It happens regardless I have optifine or not. I shut down all other programs but still to no avail. This is increasingly frustrating as I would like to play the game but it wont co-operate. A speedy response would be appreaciated.

I checked what dominic said and it says that it has 37% allocated memory but the actual memory is any where around 14-19 %

That happens to me when Minecraft runs out of memory.
Try pressing F3 and looking at the "memory" part (top right of the screen) and see if it is freezing when it is about 2% lower than the "allocated" memory.
