Crafting table doesn't open under effects of levitation.

I just wanted to check how many trapdoors you get from 6 planks. Therefore, I floated up in creative, gave myself the levitation 255 effect, and placed a crafting table next to me.(Please, don't ask me how I knew about "complex" commands but not some basic stuff like that.) However, when I right - clicked the crafting table, the hand swinging animation did show up, but the menu did not pop up. I tried this a few times, and once the menu popped up for a split-second before it disappeared. When I first came across the issue, I was using mods, so I went into the vanilla game to check if it wasn't a bug in the mods. And sure enough, there was the same result.
