Prior to the release of Minecraft 1.3, when a player tried to issue a command and they didn't have op, "<player> tried command <command>" was outputted to the console. This was removed in Minecraft 1.3, the new output became "Unknown Command. Type "help" for help." This removal of a command name and arguments makes it impossible for server owners to figure out what command a player tried to use when needing to check their logs to deal with troublesome players who may have been trying to use bukkit commands and finding them gone decided to start griefing.

This is not a resolved issue. It would be nice if this could actually be brought to the attention of Mojang. This is a serious issue that makes managing a vanilla server significantly harder.
I did look for duplicates by searching. I was the one who encouraged Z5T1 to report this bug. This is a major issue for vanilla management and provided the simplicity of the bug there is no reason to mark it a duplicate of a bug that has already been marked as won't fix.
It really doesn't matter whether an issue is classified as a bug or a feature request. What matters is that you make a compelling argument for the change, and the developers have a chance to see and consider it. So go with the flow. If an issue you care about is rejected here, don't fight it – post on the suggestions forum or subreddit.
