Big chests are split into small chests

This isn't a bug. You need to shift click the side of the first chest when placing the second to make a double chest. This allows the placement of chests next to each other (no more chest/trapped/chest set up).

2. the chests have to be facing the same way

3. if shift clicking, the chest will only attempt to connect to the block that it was placed on.

Thanks for the rapid responses, but I know how to place chests.
They were all (properly) connected before I loaded into the new snapshot.

Do you have a backup of the world that is not touched by the snapshots? if so, mind uploading it (somewhere else if it’s too big, and just provide a link)?

Yes I made a backup, but it's quite huge ~390 MB (7zip compressed on Ultra). I don't mind uploading this backup. DO you have a drive or a service which provides this filesize (and 24h delete)?

Can you please provide the 1.12.2 backup? You can upload the world to Mega, Mediafire, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.

@unknown actually, it can make them connect properly as previously, you couldn’t place 3 of the same chest types next to each other.

Cannot confirm with given world when upgrading from 1.12.2 to 18w09a.

Hello Neko, thanks for the feedback.
I reloaded the game too. It did not do this today.
On the other hand the "furnace not burning/cooking" bug still occurred.
Anyway I will keep an eye out if this happens again.

I lit. came back into the game and this was really strange.
But on the other hand therefore the snapshots are there testing and bugfixing.
