Fire runs rampant in survival worlds

I started 4 consecutive survival worlds and play for about an hour into each only to discover that surrounding forest biomes are completely burnt down or are burning down very fast. It may be due to denser foliage but fire spreads really well even over plains ... didn't know that was even possible - no Roofed forest can possibly survive for long in survival worlds that are essentially dry tinder. This makes playing the game a bit difficult if all the forest resources are ticking time bombs of fire. Did you mess with the tick rate of fire spread?

My apologies - the game itself does not crash, seems stable enough. I set view distance to 16 chunks build a small house and mine for an hour or so for resources - come back to the surface and travel 50-100 blocks and notice flames in what appears to be plains except its not plains it WAS a forest. Been playing this game for years and while random fires do happen the amount of devastation that occurs now is almost surreal - I have restarted new survival games and this seems to be a constant occurrence - ramp[aging fires the take out just about everything. Its like the fire spread variables have been turned up? If I SEE one starting by a lava pool I can put it out but one fire block in a forest will wipe out the forest far more often now than in any point ive noticed in the past.
