Fire spread too quick

I surely hope this does not "work as intended". I've never seen it this bad. Even with rain enabled for three hours, the file keeps spreading.

Part of the problem may be to the messed up world generation. Trees, are over spawning sometime making walls of wood. Leaves and grass are also over spawning. Fuel is so close together that fire maybe spreading faster as a result, overwhelming the original settings. However, the fact that rain no longer extinguishes the fire seems to indicate a bug.

Maybe fire could be set to go out faster the longer it rains.

This has happened in my server for 18w11a. The workaround for now is to do /gamerule doFireTick False and manually put out the fire. You can turn it back on after the fire is controlled.

I loaded my world that has a jungle at spawn in 18w11a to test my builds with the new stuff.
Before I knew it the whole jungle went up in flames from 3 different locations, even rain had a hard time putting out the fire.
Its a multiplayer world that had been running a few days in 1.12.2 and this never happened before.
This has to be fixed or else I need to disable firetick with the update... But that would be lame.

I add that, as we see in the images, the light does not update after the fire is extinguished.

Just happened to 18w14a.

I noticed this in a previous snapshot, but I just tested it in 18w14b and it is now going out on it's own.

Right, I stand corrected. I found some naturally occurring fire near a lava pool and it is not disappearing. It isn't spreading farther than it should either? But yeah this is still a thing.

Confirmed 18w15a. Started by lightning. Burned down woodland mansion near spawn. I could not place water fast enough in creative mode to save it. Unplayable lag with 3 chunk render distance.

I can confirm for 18w15a.

Forest Mansion burned down in a minute because of a lava block.

I thought that this was a cause for MC-125442, but it seems that the issue causing jungle lag is separate to this issue: I scouted around a Jungle in spectator mode and didn't see any fire to explain the lag.

Confirmed in 18w16a. Was AFK from my server and came back to a sea of fire.
Rain manages to stop it slowly but surely, barely around the trees though.

The fire doesn't actually seem to disappear, judging by the lightspots that continue to exist after extinguishing fires with rain. This also causes big lag on the client side; the higher the render distance, the worse it gets.

I witnessed an entire jungle burn. It was amazing (and laggy).

We have plenty of screenshots by now.
