Background
The creative menu can be searched with the search tab. Search will work with any string found in an item name or tooltip. Search can even be used by block identifiers e.g. minecraft:grass_block
.
The bug
Some commands allow tags to be used in place of identifiers (e.g. /execute if block ~ ~-1 ~ #wool say It's wool
. The same is not true for the search field of the creative menu.
Note
Some ids will coincide with block tags in such a way that the effects are not noticeable. For example, searching for wool will bring up every wool type. However, when searching for logs, (using the item tag logs
) nothing shows up. Of course, by stopping the search and using log
nearly all log types show up, but the <log>_bark
does not show up (which would have if searching with tags) because neither the bark block names or ids include the string "log".
