Game crashes while optimizing world, probably due to a memory leak. As the world gets optimized, process heaps keeps on growing until JVM runs out of memory.
This is just to highlight a possible memory leak. Allocating more memory has its limits, world size doesn't (virtually). People with huge worlds (5+ GB) wouldn't be able to optimize them because the memory required would get ridiculous. I was able to convert my world by allocating 4 GB to the JVM (3 still wasn't enough).

Bots sometimes, jeez lol

Worth tagging the mods here? Does that make a difference?

What do you mean? I just try to bring their attention to the fact that this issue is legit and definitely not the duplicate of a 5 years old issue. Being "resolved" means that no one can vote on it, and the release is tomorrow.
@unknown, just wondering if you are still experiencing this in 1.13.1.

@Asteraoth
No. It went smoothly within the 2GB allocated that one time I retried it in 1.13.1.
