Moderator Note

Increase the memory:

Launcher 1.x: Start Launcher -> Profile Editor -> Edit Profile -> JVM Arguments -> Change -Xmx1G to -Xmx2G (or higher)
Launcher 2.x: Start Launcher -> Installations -> Click on your installation -> More Options -> JVM Arguments -> Change -Xmx1G to -Xmx2G (or higher)

This issue is often caused when installing large resource packs. If increasing the memory usage does not correct the issue, or results in other crashes, remove the resource pack.
Resource packs may be access by opening the launcher, clicking Edit Profile -> Open Game Dir, and opening the resourcepacks directory.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

I Have the Same Exact Operating System O.o But this a while ago when i first installed minecraft i installed 64-bit and this never happend but recently i reset my computer and everything was deleted so im back to 32-bit and this happens alot.

Increase the memory. Launcher -> Profile Editor -> Edit Profile -> JVM Arguments -> Change -Xmx1G to -Xmx2G (or higher)

No, 32bit OS is the problem. You can have at max. 1.0 to 1.5 GB for Java with a 32bit OS.

Well, if you overload Minecraft more than your computer can handle, OutOfMemErrors will occur.

If you are getting this error on texture packs larger than 16x16 on 32-bit OS decrease allocation of memory to the game. I know it is opposite of typical thinking but the issue will be that it runs out of texture space so Xmx controls heap... not texture space. Reducing heap will increase texture space and allow the game to work.

Eg -Xmx512M

Well my knowledge was based on before Minecraft gained native HD texture support.

Now that it has native support it may to be handled differently now but previously textures got allocated outside the heap (somehow) in the remaining process space on clients modded to handle HD textures. So reducing the heap was the fix usually on systems forced to only be able to run 32-bit java. Now it seems that with 32-bit java if there isn't enough space to fix the textures it will just silently fail and fallback to default.

Regardless I did a few additional tests on 1.6.4. Note that I did it on 32-bit java only. On 64-bit it really isn't needed and the last test I did on 32-bit java actually fails on 64-bit for unknown reasons. Only the 768M test passes for both ends on a 256x texture pack.

Increasing memory doesn't seem to work for me. When using creepers with custom data tags, my game freezes all mobs and has lag spikes that occur more and more frequently until I crash due to "Ticking Entity"

I am certain that the creepers are causing this, however I have experimented with various other combinations of data tags and the game works fine. I have no idea what is causing this to happen.

The creepers essentially ride falling sand that is launched into the air, and after a couple fall, the lag occurs.

Please help, as I need to know why this is happening for me to continue my build

I can't mine blocks because when i do they just reappear and i can't travel to places i haven't already. Then i went away to do something else, came back and it said mine craft is out of memory. I came here and tried this but now the world won't even load! please help!

Judging by the logs, MC-75059 does not appear to be a duplicate of MC-12949. Recommend reviewing the logs again. These appear to be separate issues.

This keeps happening to me in the latest snapshot. It's probably my fault, because I didn't backup my world, AND I am using a pretty feature-loaded snapshot, but this was happening to me even before the most recent snapshot. The first time I knew what caused it, the following times I did not. The first time I practically crashed my world using the new command blocks. I was trying to get the summoned-in Enderdragon to come back to me, but I accidentally typed in summon @e. Bad idea. I had to spam escape before I could even do anything. Log out, log in, play world, /kill command, crash. Today I just played and it was in the process of crashing right when I joined. It has crashed twice today. The first being a java error, second being an insignificant amount of memory. I know this probably isn't a bug, but I'm using a pretty new macbook pro and this is probably the 6th time it has crashed since I got the computer. The macbook has plenty of room on it. Could it be that the world is corrupt?

MCL-10101...

Worked fine on 25/10/18. When loading on 26/10/18, no versions will work.

Crash message says: "The game crashed whilst initializing game

I have checked java is up-to-date

I have uninstalled and completed a fresh install

I have logged out and back in

I have tried different versions from 1.8 to 1.13.2 - none of them are working

I have completed a clean up of the laptop to make sure there was enough available memory on the laptop

I have restarted the computer multiple times

I have removed the one resource pack I had on

I have attached the crash report to the ticket I created, but the bot shut me down as a duplicate.

I used to have the same issue and whenever I increased the memory it said I was exceeding java limits, so I couldn't increase the memory but I couldn't decrease it also, because it said it needed more (and whenever I added more it said I exceeded).
