[MC-24197] When playing offline (the way I want my Granddaughter to play) when the game is trying to build world, game crashes

I added memory to the system (max-2G) and killed al processes other than Minecraft. Minecraft executes, will play for a bit then crashes. It crashes even sooner if she goes into full screen mode. Have included crash report. I cannot add any additional memory to this system. Is there anything else we can do so Minecraft will continue to run.
We want to use this machine for multiplayer, and she wants me to add some mods. Do you thinks there is any way we can depend on this computer to run Minecraft reliably?
