If gamerule sendCommandFeedback is disabled, /msg or /tell don't display the message to the sender

Original Message:

When you disable sendCommandFeedback from the gamerule, then type /msg [message], it will send. However it won't display the message to the sender (yourself) you sent if you are an operator or a normal player.

You also cannot type commands that will only show locally like /team list Blue

Steps to replicate issue:

  1. As an operator on a server, run:

    /gamerule sendCommandFeedback false
  1. Send a message to a player:

    /msg OtherPlayer hello
  1. As an operator on a server, run:

    /team list Blue
  1. To contrast, try the above two same methods ending in different results using:

    /gamerule sendCommandFeedback true

What is expected:

  1. Players should be able to know they have sent an outgoing message to other players, regardless of server operators hiding their chat clutter with "sendCommandFeedback" disabled.

  2. Commands that only display locally to server operators, regardless of the gamerule settings, should bypass this toggle, as it is not expected to show up globally to either other operators or players.

I would have reported this alot sooner if I had known beforehand. I didn't have players in my server until 1.13 release though.

No crash happened.

My mistake. It was sendCommandFeedback that won't show players the private messages they send outbound. I used to be able to disable commands that ops ran from being shown in chat in 1.12.2. It would still show commands to the one executing them like listing the number of players on a team or private messages. But it would not show players if admins teleported or changed gamemode.

Can confirm - running 1.13 - setting sendCommandFeedback to true returns the expected functionality.

However, as an admin, I'd like to have feedback hidden, but give players the ability to see sent messages again. 😛

Confirmed for 1.13.1.

This is still a bug in 1.14. Can you please fix this? Super annoying as an admin to see all of the command feedback.

Still affects version 1.16.1

This bug is back in 1.19
