So i was playing around with the riptide enchantment a bit and i found this bug. When you exit the water whilst riptiding, keep going up in the rain and then come crashing down against the ocean floor, you will take fall damage.
Here's a link to a video i made about the bug. I didn't use the elytra i was wearing. https://youtu.be/1uug9mDdzhg
To reproduce:
Make sure it's raining.
Make sure you're fully submerged.
Use your riptide to go up, out of the water.
Keep riptiding up until you reach about 5000 blocks in altitude
Face down and keep riptiding downwards in your fall.
When you hit the ocean floor, you will die from fall damage.

I don't think this has anything to do with fall damage. It's sort of like the elytra, where you zoom into the floor and die from kinetic damage. Also, your death message said <playername> fell out of the water, not "Hit the Ground too Hard" or "fell from a high place".
Because you were riptiding so fast, it hits the ocean so hard that the water doesn't stop you in time and you die form "kinetic energy".
This relates to MC-132965
Edit: I would actually say it's the same since it happens randomly instead of consistently, requires a small hitbox (sprint swim hitbox or riptide hitbox), and the death message said "fell out of the water". In fact, you don't need riptide in order to reproduce.
