While a piston is retracting, there is a visual glitch, see attached screenshot ("piston.png"). The wooden part which belongs on the end of the piston arm is painted on the piston base, too. On the screenshot, the green sticky blob should not be visible at all because it should be facing the stone block.
Bug exists with normal pistons as well as sticky ones.
See "expected.png" for how it should look like (screenshot made while piston was extending)

The photo is made while the piston is retracting so the not fully retracted arm is obviously not a bug. The issue is that the wodden part (in this case with the green blob as it's a sticky piston) is painted on the piston base, which is normally just stone. I will update the description.
yeah I was just going to post this... its changing the texture of the piston base block's top for both sticky and normal piston bases. Not too serious of an issue but this would be possibly a hit on performance (esp with large piston builds) as there is no need to change the texture nor makes sense to.
I'm sorry to say this, but it is kind of back in 1.8however now the base shows it's not extended when reteactingsee screenshot, it's just a split second when it's retracting
(only tested in multiplayer)
No, see MC-59564.
Hi there, just to clarify, I do see a graphical glitch where the base of the piston appears on the piston itself (not the arm) for a split second before the arm retracts.
From your photo, it looked like you were describing a bug where the arm would not retract fully, but now it seems clear that is not the case. If I am correct, I ask that you please update your description to reflect this information, and I'll confirm the bug for you 🙂
