Dispenser to hopper function

I have a farm setup using a redstone mechanism that sends an item from a dispenser to a hopper which feeds back to the dispenser.

On occasion when the dispenser shoots an item the hopper does not get it.  Which in turn breaks the farm until manually restarted.

I at first thought it was the glass blocking the item on occasion, but it still occurred when the glass was moved.

You should use a Dropper instead of a Dispenser. That should work then.

I've switched the dispenser to a dropper, which im guessing you are correct in that it will work better.  However in 1.12 it was working without a single issue for months.

I mostly posted this in hopes that it might be added to the list of things to fix in the next patch.

I'll post more on this if the dropper has the same problem later today.

A dispenser always spits out the item into the world. If the hopper manages to catch it, then all good.

A dropper will deposit the item directly into the container it's facing into – be it a chest, a hopper, or another dropper. It will only spit the item into the world if there's no container.
