I made a 3x3x3 fish tank which was supposed to contain a single pufferfish and placed seagrass and sea pickles on the tank's floor.
I released my pufferfish in the tank with a bucket, and got back to wandering around the tank to build the rest of the room. But after a while my fish died for no reason, I saw it dying and disappearing in a white cloud IN the water and the wiki said nothing about pufferfishes dying in certains conditions, so I don't know why the fish died and I think it's a bug.

Precision : those are glass blocks.

possible solution :
my pufferfish may have suffocated while trying to "puff"
when they died they were in a corner of the tank.

do you know where in the chamber the fish died? If it died close to the door it can have something to do with the door not acting probely near water, on the image the door har water going downwards texure in front of it.

The fish died in the seagrass next to the door, yes.

maybee if you try and make an encloseur 1by 1 with a door as a wall, you can see if it happens again?
May be caused by MC-129994.

We just had the occasion to test with other player, it's effectively related with MC-129994.
But it's a slight different problem, Here, instead of passing through glass panes the Pufferfish has a tendency of suffocating in nearby blocks when inflating.

Created a setup similar to the screenshot, went away and in two instances the fish was dead when I came back. Corpse was at the edges of the room in both scenarios.
Fish corpse was not next to the door in one of the instances, and was adjacent to stone blocks and not the glass wall.
This might be the same issue as MC-165846.
