Horses die entering the Nether.
I expected horses to go into the nether while riding a minecart.
I thought the horse would go through.
What happened, well they took damage and died.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. I spawned a horse.
2. I put him in a minecart connecting to the nether portal.
3. I then pushed the minecart into the portal.

Probably related to MC-13668.
A horse is wider than 1 block, thus suffocating cause it rides a Minecart. Joined entities cannot travel through portals, see MC-67.
This has just happened to me, except there was no minecart and it was a donkey. I'm still mourning I guess and I feel so childish.
It suffocated to the obsidian of the portal.
It looks to me that this issue with the portal is more likely when the portal is not above ground level, instead it has one block height below ground, so that you can walk into it without jumping.
Edit: This may be another instance of the same bug that causes MC-92729 and MC-9568, since those issues have been reopened.
