The bug
When shooting the crossbow, it doesn't shoot any type of arrows. Neither in creative or survival it works. It removes the arrow from inventory, when in survival, but doesn't shoot one.
It works only, if it has been enchanted. Also after shooting one arrow with enchanted crossbow, it also stops shooting arrows as well for some time being.
UPDATE: It's related to chunks performance, apparently arrows weren't shot while my chunks were set to maximum (32).

@Urielsalis I'm loading it until it has stopped doing the load and goes to straight aiming. I found out crossbow works only with enchants, the one without enchants doesn't shoot any arrows.
I'll try to provide a video as soon as I can.
there seems to be a delay between actually loading the cross bow and the animation. if you keep loading it for a while after the animation stops(and you hear the sound), it works
I've actually tested it again couple of times, I waited a little bit longer and after clicking the bow to shoot, it still didn't shoot the arrows.
Hmmm it seem to be fixed but it almost caused by MC-138550.
Yes, I think it is a lag-related issue, not a crossbow-specific issue. Closing it until proven otherwise 🙂
How long are you loading the crossbow for? Arrows only shoot when fully charged
