I was poking around the nether in creative mode searching for a fortress when I came to a dead end. I decided to dig up to try and go over it, but ended up hitting the "surface" bedrock. I discovered something strange up here, which may be causing some of the nether lag, a bunch of mushrooms were spawned up here. The attached image is a modded client to allow a minimap, but I have also been able to produce this on a non modded client. I think this, and part of the generation for the nether, is causing some of the tremendous lag the nether presents. If you need more shots, I can produce more for you and from various people as well.

Its not just on the top of the nether, Both kinds of mushroom can be found all through the nether. I have also found that there is more gravel than soul sand and that normal mobs like skeletons and creepers spawn aswell. I'm not sure if this is an error or not, but I have found baby pigmen. Ghasts bombs don't blow anything up and I have found a few normal ore like coal, iron, gold, and diamonds in the nether. I am seriously finding alot of errors.
(edit) Just now noticed that this was made back in 1.4 xD
This is in the latest snapshot of minecraft, please fix it dinnerbone :3
Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w17a? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
just like Keeton Feavel said Its always been like that. I asumed it was an easter egg or something to do with how muchrooms can grow on almost anything as long as it is dark enogh
Please keep privacy set to public unless there is a good reason otherwise (confidential information, exploit, security issue, etc). The less people who can look at the issue, the slower it'll be until anyone can deal with it.
This issue is unrelated to the lag but I'll fix it regardless.
