elytra don't open

I was unable to reproduce this, for me they opened both on Survival and Creative mode (using a new Elytra taken from the Creative inventory).

it's with Ubuntu OS and in creative mode with brand new world and with a world ported from a stable version.

Did this happen after switching dimensions or teleporting elsewhere?
