Mobs rarely spawning now. I cannot find any mobs.

At night, mobs are not spawning at night, there is like 1 monster spawn at night every night. But it's rare to see the mobs spawn in groups. I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if it's something about the update. If so, please fix the mob spawning rate... It would be very helpful because I need some of the drops that they drop.

I am having this problem in a singleplayer world.

I checked and my difficulty was not peaceful (my difficulty was set to normal) so hostile mobs should be spawning in low light. I went caving without torches and did not see a single mob. I spent two nights out and only saw one creeper (not a single other hostile mob).

After changing my difficulty to hard (hoping to get more mobs to spawn) nothing happened until I quit to title and reopened the world. At this point more hostile mobs spawned. When I changed the difficulty back to normal, quit and reopened the world I was once again unable to find hostile mobs.

Can confirm for 18w47b, though it's been happening to me for a while. I thought it was something to do with the memory issues, but they seem to be fixed and the hostiles still aren't spawning the way they used to. Then I thought I had my game on Easy, but nope it's set to Normal. Played one night in one player survival and I saw one skeleton and one spider. I wandered around for a long time and came across one zombie and one creeper, and that was it. Even if I stay in one place for a long time the hostile mobs just don't spawn.

Fish are also incredibly rare

did you set your spawn point in a new village?

I did a couple of times, but even when it was hundreds of blocks away from the closest village, Ive only seen a total of 3 tropical fish schools

Try to set the Render Distance to 11 or above, that should fix it 😉
The real bug is with the Render Distance issue. Only if you have it on 10/9 or lower is when you wont really see them spawning.
