Crossbow doesn't/won't support piercing

Tried to use /enchant command to enchant my crossbow with piercing. Didn't work so I needed to see if it was an issue. So I used an anvil to enchant it and it wouldn't give me the crossbow,

Does the crossbow you are enchanting have multishot? Those enchantments are mutually exclusive.
