Item Frames placed on floors and ceilings are shaded incorrectly

For whatever reason it doesn't always happen when you place an item frame, and it seems to be random as breaking and replacing it has a chance for it to be placed normally or for the shading to be incorrect. It appears to have to do with the block under it as breaking the block under an item frame in a large grid of blocks with item frames on top of them, you can see their lighting update oddly before the floating item frames pop off.
