Villagers give off blue 'water' particles when trying to trade

The bug

All villagers give off blue 'water' particles when right-clicking on them for trade. No trading GUI comes up at all. I can, however, trade with the wandering trader.

I have tried villagers in several different villages, and have had another player try as well only to get the same problem. Villagers appear to move around the village and visit their workstations, they are not stuck in a running loop.

Please provide a screenshot with the debug screen enabled (hit the F3 key) demonstrating the issue.

Screenshots added. Three different villages and one in creative mode, because it also happens in creative.

this behavior is shown in raids... but there is no health bar and new villages shouldn't have them unless you killed an illager patrol leader.

Yeah, it's intended to be them "sweating" when a raid is approaching. Make sure that you don't have a "Bad Omen" condition of any sort, or that there isn't an army of Pillagers nearby.

That may explain why it happened, but it is still a bug. There was a raid that ended after 1 wave. There is no indication that there is still a raid going on, and no mobs to kill. Yes, I have looked. And there is no indication that I have a bad omen effect. Also, this is happening to multiple users, not just myself. And multiple villages (there are at least 3 in those screenshots, I have tried at least 5, all villagers doing the same thing). So something is funky.

Playing 19w11b in singleplayer mode. After the raid ended, raid bar no longer visible, no bad omen, all villagers will not trade, "sweat" as if raid is still on.

I had the same issue/bug. I feel, that I should quickly mention the steps, which I believe lead in my world to the bug. Since, it might help to track it down and resolve it. Also, I found a possible solution or at least a work around.

1) I loaded my save file in the newest snapshot 19w11b, it was previously 19w09a.

2) The game crashed me instantly. I just saw my bed and done.

3) Crash report suggested that there was a problem with a block:

Ticking block entity java.lang.IllegalStateException: POI never registered at eu{x=1066, y=65, z=221}

4) This led me to reload the world in 19w09a and destroy said block. (It was the composter in my bonemeal/cactus farm)

5) Reload the game in 19w11b. And no crash but now the villagers are giving the blue particles. I killed them all and trying to replace them...did not work. However, if I left the area that was possible rendered during the initial crash I was able to spawn in "normal" villagers. This areas were chunks I visited before.

6) So, what I think what happened is: Crashing game plus reloading different versions left the village and its surroundings in sort of a "raid-attack-state" without any pillagers or so present.

SOLUTION 7) Switching to peaceful und back to normal difficulty fixed the problem.

Thanks for opening this issue report, because it brought me on the right track. I thought trading with them before the update just broke my villager for ever. XD

I hope my comment helps resolving the issue to some extent.

Same problem for me on 3/26/19, multi player

Is this still an issue in 19w13a?
