Raid without bad omen

Never have killed an illager captain, so never had bad omen, but a raid triggered in the village anyway.

Not sure how to reproduce other than waiting around in a village.

Possibly relevant: Earlier in the game, saw an illager patrol. I saved a quit. When I came back, all were despawned but two axe wielding illagers without banners. I did kill those. Did not have a status effect.

I realized after posting that I had a backup of the save from not long before the raid. I have opened the save and confirmed that no bad omen effect is present. The raid happened a couple of in game days after the point off the save, with no combat with illagers or anything else in between. Have not tried to run the save again to see if it happens again. I have attempted to upload a zip file of the save folder, but it is too large.

Can you upload the world to a file sharing site and comment the link here? Also please provide the location of the village.

Hate to say this, but during some cleanup, I deleted my backup a few hours ago. Sorry :/
Didn't realize this was among the old worlds I deleted.

I'll close this as "Cannot Reproduce" for the time being. If you run into this issue again, comment here and I can reopen it.

I also had this happen last night.

  • I am the only person playing on my server. (Meaning, no other player w/ Bad Omen had logged in and triggered the raid.)

  • I have been developing this village for months before updating to 1.14 and had 20+ villagers.

  • I played for about 20+ minutes in and around the village after updating to 1.14, mostly in creative mode. During this time, I did notice that the villagers had gone a bit crazy and left their normal comfort zone in the village and were wandering everywhere, much farther than normal, including the iron golems. I logged off.

  • The next time I logged in, the village was already under a raid, there were only 4 villagers left, who were promptly killed. There was only one of 3 iron golems left, and he was only alive because he wandered far away from the village proper.

  • When I logged in, it was on the 2nd wave as I only had to kill off 2 waves before the raid ended.

  • I did not have any status effects either before or after the raid.

So, this raid started:

  • Before I logged in, or somehow in the middle of it.

  • Without the status effect. (I had never seen any kind of illager prior to this.)

  • All villagers have been killed, and I do not have the Bad Omen.

  • I have no idea how the heck a raid could have possibly started while I was offline, since the chunk is supposed to unload right? If it was all offline, the only explanation is the raid spawned in progress, in the middle of a raid timeline. I dont know.

I seem to be having the same problem now in 1.15.2 ? I had the bad omen a while back, but I don't believe it was still there when i entered the village. I checked after the raid had started to load and it wasn't there, I assume that means it wasn't there. I had walked quite the distance and there is no way it could have still been there as i was more than 2k blocks away from home and had to run through jungles on foot. (I don't actually know how to 100% confirm though, let me know if I'm wrong.)

Here's my savefile.

The village is at around -66 83 -3999.

I have same problem on Minecraft Java Edition 1.15.2.

After killing patrol near the village the Raid begun, but after killing two waves I still don't have a BadOmen. Does it have something to do with killing untamed cat in village?

Bad Omen goes away when the raid begins - it gets converted into the strength of the raid. Neither of these examples unfortunately prove the issue. Unless there is a video of a raid beginning and not having had Bad Omen before it starts, I still don't have proof this bug exists. Both of the examples given include having previously had Bad Omen. It lasts a very long time, so it is still possible you had it and forgot about it. If there is an issue I want to fix it, but hard to do so without a way to see it happen 🙂

I am unable to reproduce this issue in 21w19a.

Is this still an issue in the latest release/snapshot?
