Baby chickens spawned from egg despawn after the player leaves the chunk in Multiplayer

After moving several chunks away from the chickens, they despawn even after being renamed

What I expected to happen was...:
I expect the baby chicken to just stay

What actually happened was...:
The baby chicken will despawn with no trace
