When updating dark areas of some chunks, the chunk is lit up even if it is enclosed for darkness. (Using my witch farm as an example, even with a roof over it, light is somehow still in the farm and not letting the witches spawn)

Do you have a backup of the world from an earlier version (preferably 1.13.2)? If so, please attach (or provide a download link of) the world here so we can reproduce the issue.

I don't have a back up and I don't think it would help much with replicating it. I'm unsure why the few specific chunks are lit up like they are but I don't know if it replicatable or just something happening in my world

What version was this world made in? Did you upgrade it to snapshots as they were released?

The world was made in 1.13.2 but these chunks were not explored until the recent snapshots we've gotten this month and the later part of March.

Opposite problem. Just updated server to 1.14 Pre-release 1 and noticed areas that should have light are dark. Noticed similar in mines and caves two days ago areas with torches were dark. Thought it was a new feature, but now I'm not sure.

I am also having the issue in 1.14. and 1.14.1 pre-release. The bug in question is found in 1.14 chunks and is not fixed by light or block updates. Also, the bug is not just cosmetic, the spawner that is seen in the picture doesnt spawn any mobs during day-time, also the light activa tes a daylight sensor.

This is the same issue as MC-149518. I've resolved this ticket as a duplicate of that ticket since it has way more votes, duplicate links and comments, even though it has been created later.
