Sometimes when cats are sitting they will teleport to the player and sometimes if they are on a bed, chest, furnace, etc, they will not teleport when the player leaves

For the first problem, I right click so they sit, then later, they tp and are immediately sitting again, but it’s not like the case with dogs where if you’re attacked they’ll come to you then sit again. Every time they tp it feels random, though it’s probably just a certain distance or something. For the second problem, they’ll start sitting on a chest, bed, furnace etc, and I won’t click on them at all, then I’ll walk away and I’ve had times where they just never tp to me. I had to run all the way back to a village to find one of my cats and it was just sitting on a chest. I definitely went over 300 blocks away.
Right I've seen this behaviour too, and it can be quite a problem when luring them away from villages after taming them. Whats also annoying is when you station your cats strategically around your base/house to ward off phantoms/creepers, and they just tp to you at random.
I've encountered random teleportation of sitting animals when I've been attacked. This is useful behavior for tamed wolves (who can help defend you) but annoying for cats (who just move from where you put them and nonchalantly watch you die–this is probably one of the more realistic features in the game) and parrots (who often die as a result of coming to your rescue). In 1.14 the combat-related teleporting no longer seems to occur (for any type of animal), but cats will now sometimes teleport even when they're sitting on a bed or chest, and sometimes they won't.
In general, animal teleportation used to be very reliable and is now (1.14.4) buggy, almost to the point of being non-functional.
Did the cat start sitting?
