Cannot access realm

I have been in a realm subscribed by my friend for many months. I had access yesterday before the 1.14 java update and now I can no longer get on it. When I click on the realm bar, it gives me a buy a realm popup and when i click cancel, the realm bar is selected but the play button is grey. My friend has access to his realm and has tried to delete and re-add me but the same thing happens.
