I've been trying to move villagers through nether portals (using mine carts) but certain villagers don't seem to go through no matter what I try. I break the mine cart and the villager hits the portal, the villager freezes (in mid air) and goes back to doing his thing. This only seems to happen to certain villagers as I was able to manage to get a couple in but for the vast majority of them it doesn't seem to work at all.

Nope. Doesn't I tried going to the nether and back several times and it didn't change anything.

I am in 1.14.2 and have 2 villagers of 7 I transported that will not go back into the overworld. I have broken the portal (remade it.) I built and tried a different portal. I have logged out and in. I have waited for hours (afk time) to see if they will become able to travel again.
I am playing on a vanilla server.

I don't know what part of this helped, but when I put a villager in a boat inside a portal, and then hurt the villager, he went through the portal successfully. Perhaps I'll try to find an MWE.
