Fence Gate pushes player into block below

When the player is standing in the block of a fence gate, and that fence gate is on the upper half of the player (1 block off the ground) and the fence gate is closed, the player will be pushed down into the block below them when the fence gate is closed. 

Edit: This also happens with trapdoors.
