MC-304708 Unlike glass, copper grates appear completely opaque from a distance or sharp enough angle Works As Intended MC-304438 A wall of ladders will appear completely opaque even when not particularly far from it Won't Fix MC-304384 Thin dark line around edges of glass and leaf texture pixels Confirmed MC-304383 Vines are outright opaque from a distance Won't Fix MC-304381 Redstone crosses/turns now have visual artifacts due to anisotropic filtering and/or translucent rendering Confirmed MC-304340 When switching to a spear the hand/previous item is visually replaced by it before it can rise from the bottom of the screen Confirmed MC-304338 Player heads can turn the wrong way when rotating fast enough - easily seen at low tick rates Confirmed MC-304336 If the game cannot load textures, atlases can sometimes fill up with garbage data Confirmed MC-304334 Subtitle for placing items in display objects are inconsistent Invalid MC-304323 Shelves are subject to texture bleeding due to their atypical texture mapping Confirmed MC-304236 Anisotropic filtering option does not upgrade correctly Won't Fix MC-304158 Block cracking progress textures are padded by over a pixel, despite only block textures needing this treatment Invalid MC-303938 Some block-entity textures are padded by over a pixel, despite only block textures needing this treatment Won't Fix MC-303937 Aliasing can still be seen when one block transitions into another Won't Fix MC-303743 Item textures are padded, despite only block textures needing this treatment Fixed MC-303741 The appearence of the missing texture no longer changes when Anisotropic Filtering is enabled Invalid MC-303679 Text which is too long and animates horizontally in menus renders on top of UI when out of view Duplicate MC-303675 Atlas padding reduces tiling efficiency and increases atlas sizes Confirmed MC-303669 With the new anisotropic filtering system, the grass side overlay no longer covers it in a pixel-perfect way Confirmed MC-303651 Rotating dropped items sometimes create visual artifacts Fixed

It clearly does? Otherwise why are resources being wasted in generating graphics that are never used at any point?

This looks like a model issue, not a texture issue. Is it still a problem if you disable custom resource packs?
