I’ve checked using a shader pack and it does appear to actually render as solid rather than cutout. Possible subpixel bleed/mapping issue?
Is this still the case as of the seventh 26.1 snapshot, or do the model changes resolve this problem?
This is fixed in the sixth snapshot for 26.1.
It clearly does? Otherwise why are resources being wasted in generating graphics that are never used at any point?

This looks like a model issue, not a texture issue. Is it still a problem if you disable custom resource packs?
