Water is visible through campfire smoke

What I expected to happen was...:
I expected for the smoke to be opaque.

What actually happened was...:
The water from my farm and the ocean was visible through the smoke.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. I had a campfire (it had a hay bale underneath it ,don't know if that affected anything).
2. I looked towards a area with water and was able to see the water through the smoke (other than it being visible through smoke it seemed normal as it was partially covered by the plants).
3. I was using it to cook potatoes (this is probably not the reason for the bug).
