Minecart Hopper disappearing

In my creeper farm I have a 4 sides to a wall, each with a magma block shoved into a mine cart with hopper that drops in to a hopper then a chest. The mine carts with hoppers disappear after some time and it's just the magma block sitting on top of the hopper.
