Single Player Mode Extreme Lag

Singleplayer Mode is extremely laggy! I can't even walk. Anytime I loom around, walk, or just try to do anything it freezes and I have to move the mouse continually until it unfreezes. I thought it was just the generally loading in lag, but I've been trying to get it to work for like 2 days and it still just lags, glitches, and freezes.

You don't have access to them yet.

What are your system specs? What kind of lag are you experiencing (choppy frames, or blocks not being placed/broken properly)?

Its very choppy. It will freeze and when it unfreezes I'm looking a different direction. It skips frames too.

Logs are filled with "... Can't keep up! Is the server overloaded? ... " spaced an average of 30 seconds apart, give or take 5 seconds.

Acer V3-771G with 16GB RAM and a Samsung AVO 960 500GB SSD.  i7 CPU and NVidia GT 650M GPU.  Was running Java edition with "-

I was using " -Xms512M --Xmx2048M " which settled Java into running 50- - 70% of memory, so I changed it to " -Xms512M --Xms4G", which dropped the memory usage range down to around 25-0%.  That helped a lot but arrows still looked as though they were flying through molasses and didn't have the range they normally had.  The apparent gravity was randomly doubling.

While walking villagers and pillagers stop  suddenly for about 1/2 a second and then continue normally for a couple seconds then stop again, rinse and repeat.

it might be a bug with villager AI wasting all of your cycles

kill some villagers and see if it goes away, worked for me

@unknown, you have a different issue as well, see MC-145744. Please don't comment on tickets if you don't experience the same issue.

@unknown, can you try to find out what actually causes the lag? Are there a lot of entities or particles in the direction where you're looking?

@violine1101 I don't think the particles matter. I turned off particles but. On Default world type even when I'm in a forest with nothing else there it's still choppy, and on superflat there are a lot of slime but even if I can't see them it's still choppy! I only get between 0-10 FPS.
