Cannot login in the MC launcher, waiting forever

When I start the MC launcher and specify email, password and press "Login", nothing happens. it just keeps loading. This happened after the launcher was updated to the new one a couple of days ago.

I have tried:

1. Get new password by reset, so I am sure it is the correct on (I can login to mincraft.net and mojang)

2. Reinstalled Minecraft

3. Reinstall Java to latest version

4. Restart the computer

Nothing works, there is just the waiting /  loading icon.
