Windows 7 Laptop to New Linux PC Minecraft Transfer

I have been running minecraft on my windows 7 old dual core laptop, but it really struggles to run properly on there, and since the last update it crashes every half hour and you loose 15 minutes of work every time! So I just spent my life savings on an i7 Core that should run minecraft very well, however, my new computer I installed openSUSE Leap 15.0 and downloaded the specific package as instructed, but when I loaded the game it paused itself and would not unpause, every time I tried to escape the pause menu it did a strange thing, instead of letting me play the game it just zoomed in on its strange paused picture each time! I have since upgraded to openSUSE Leap 15.1 as I waited for months for minecraft support to get back to me, and after talking to several of their team, they gave up and sent me here!

Did you try to open the launcher from a terminal  window to see if  there were error  messages?

Are you able to capture and attach a screenshot of this "strange pause picture"?

Also, please hold f3+c in-game until it crashes, and attach the resulting crash report to this ticket too.

Thanks for the advice guys, sorry for the delay, in the end after I updated my Linux, I re-installed minecraft and it works perfectly. Actually it works like a dream, full on 32 chunk load in full heavy weather! I am away, thanks for the advice though, very appreciated!
