Inventory unusable because recipe book covers it

At some resolutions the recipe book and inventory fail to adjust properly leaving the recipe book over top of the inventory, preventing you from either closing it or using the inventory. 

This is currently plaguing my attempts to use minecraft on a vertical halfscreen (with overall resolution of 1920x1080). The orientation is apparent in the screenshots. 

I have attached screenshots of the recipe book blocking  the inventory as well as the F3 screen in case that contains any useful information as well.
