After a restarting my computer and the minecraft 0.7 launcher and game, I find that my sound has been reset to 27% and music has been set to off.

Your Java version is out of date. Please update your Java to the latest version: http://www.java.com/en/download/. Keep in mind that when using a 32-bit browser on a 64-bit OS the automatic version detection will only show the 32-bit version of Java, the 64-bit version needs to be downloaded manually: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.
Please report if the issue persists with the latest Java version.
I am using Mac OS X and the minecraft launcher defaults to Java 6, even though I have 7 installed. I know that with feed the beast, java 7 will not work. I am assuming that this is intentional and one of the Mojang developers put this in the code to prevent errors. I have the latest version of Java 6 from Apple and the latest version of Java 7 from Oracle.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
