Classic item sorters drop their named items and break sorters,
Finished guardian farm in 1.14.3, collected several chests of properly sorted loot. Using standard ImpulseSV design.
Went back after the update to spruce the area up and my item sorters keep breaking. They somehow drop their named items and then back up with unsorted items, overload the red stone signal, and ruin the whole line of sorters.
I have built this design many times and I am sure it is done correctly. It worked fine before the update.
I have only noticed this in the guardian farm. The same sorters are working fine in my main base. Guardian farm sorter handles much higher traffic than any of my other sorters but I would think that if there were too many items they would just skip the full hopper and get picked up by the next or destroyed by the lava at the end of the ice stream.
I checked chunk alignment and the whole apparatus is contained in its own chunk.
I do frequently fly in and out of the area, and the guardian farm's speed makes my computer a little laggy, these may be factors?

Hello, i have the same problem. This only happens in my guardian farm too and it is kind of annoying. Been searching the internet for like an hour now and still haven't found anything close. U are the only one that has te same problem like me. P.S. in have al laptop too but it doesn't lag for me at all
I have found a way to make this happen way less frequently. I simply put 2 1 1 of the items that i want to sort in the first 3 spots and in the last 2 spot of the hopper i put 20 21 place holder block. This way it can hold more of these items an then it wil break less frequently. Hope this helps a bit.
I think this was the same bug that occurred to xisumavoid in his latest hermitcraft episode: https://youtu.be/Jqp0r2SBdBM?t=640 (timestamp-10:42). So this bug is confirmed for 1.16.1
I've reset the filters and tried to replicate the issue by repeatedly flying in and out to load and unload chunks, hopped in and out of the nether, I'll afk tonight to see if that can do it.
No blocks have been changed in the sorter itself, at present it is running fine.
