After logging back in on singleplayer hardcore mode with a large number (25-30) tamed wolves in the immediate environment, 5 of which had been standing prior to logout, all tamed wolves were found sitting and facing south. They pivoted so that they faced in different directions and could not be made to stand by right-clicking them.

I hit one so that it might stand, but it continued sitting, and all surrounding tamed wolves began to growl.
