Sunless Grey Sky on Flatland

I was playing on a Redstone Flatland map and the sky turned grey. This happens quite a bit. I was able to watch the sun fade away. Logging out while the sky is grey brings the sun back for a little bit, but it fades to grey again soon. The sky returns to normal randomly.

It is raining in the world, but since you are in the desert the sky is only overcast.
