with the resistance effect, leaving the world and going back in, the game will forget about resistance despite saying the effect is still there

typed the command "/effect give @a minecraft:resistance 1000000 255 true". left the world, went back in, it still said i had the effect applied yet i took damage and had to re-apply it. happened each time leaving and coming back.
